John Van Unen is an Emmy Award-winning motion designer based in Los Angeles. After earning his B.F.A. in Graphic Design from California State University, Long Beach, he began his career as a freelance motion designer, collaborating studios and agencies including Elastic, Wieden & Kennedy, Laundry and We Are Royale. Since 2019, he has been a Senior Motion Designer at Digital Kitchen.

He specializes in 3D design and animation, concept development, and pitching. He brings a distinct perspective to each project, drawing inspiration from the natural world and art history, with his graphic design background and technical knowledge informing his approach.

Outside of motion design, he pursues other creative interests, including pottery and photography, and is an avid runner.
